Today was an incredibly special to me. Not only because today was Friday, but today just happened to be my nana’s birthday. Anyone that knows me, knows how special my nana is to me. Her and I have a rare relationship that I would not trade for the world. She is one of favorite people in my life, and today, this post is dedicated to her.

Cold and Cozy

Today it started snowing…again. I love the snow for Christmas, but once the holiday is over, I’m ready for the snow to be gone as well. But, I can’t control the weather, but I can control how to handle it. So I decided to embrace it with my winter must-have. An oversized comfy sweater. I like to buy these a size or two larger for added comfort, this way too, they are long enough to wear with only leggings, like I did today. You can also wear oversized sweaters with jeans, but if I’m doing comfy, I’m going all the way and keeping with leggings. A sweater really is a winter staple, and this color is a neutral so that makes it great and versatile for different colored leggings or even jeans.

Steal my look: My sweater is from Marshalls, my leggings are from Forever 21 and my boots are from Urban Outfitters

Jump Around!

If there is one thing I love, it is a daring look. If there is one thing I love even more, its a bright blue jumpsuit. I love all the fashions and trends from the 60’s and 70’s so you better believe I was ecstatic when i started seeing jumpsuits appearing in stores again. When I saw this bright blue jumpsuit I knew I needed it. It can stand alone and its straight-legged at the bottom so when it’s warmer, I can pair it with a pair of sandals or even heels/wedges to make it an evening look. It was fun pairing it with a busier blazer too because it really pulls the blue flower detail out of the blazer. I love this look because it is very versatile for the various seasons, and it’s a great color, super bold and bound to be noticed. Once it’s warmer out, I’ll be wearing this with heels and without the blazer, so it will look completely different than it does today. Don’t be afraid to embrace a bold color. I think by choosing something so bright, it helps to portray confidence. You should choose a bold color to wear this week, just try something new!

Steal my look today: I am wearing a blue jumpsuit from Top Shop (only $20!), a floral blazer from Burlington Coat Factory ($17!) and finished my look with my FAVORITE black combat boots from Shoe Carnival!

New Year, New Post

post45

It has been quite some time since a new post, but I decided that it is a new year, so we’re going to keep this blog going! I hope your holidays were filled with love, happiness and of course, new fashion inspirations. Today, I decided to mix some prints. This is one of my favorite trends because it is so easy, yet it really stands out and makes people want to ask you about it. Mixing prints can be pretty simple as long as both pieces aren’t too crazy. I opted for a busier pant and paired it with my more simple top. It really brings out the blues in both pieces, which was a goal for this outfit.

Working with Winter

post44

If you are anything like me, which I assume you are at least a little considering you are on my blog page, but if you’re like me, you are absolutely HATING this winter. What’s that popular phrase…”I just can’t.” I’m so over it, but since we have no control over it (besides the luxury of relocating to the south) our only option is to deal with and embrace it with our final chance to show off our winter pieces.

The beauty in goodbye…

13th May 2014

post43

Today was an extremely painful, emotional and overall just difficult day that I have not been looking forward to. Today, I had to say goodbye to my great-grandmother, Pearl. Something even more painful was watching my other family members say goodbye to her. Tears of frustration, pain and guilt fell from their eyes. If goodbye has taught me anything, besides the fact that I do not like it, I have learned that time is uncertain. We are not guaranteed anything while we are here, and we do not even know how long it will be for. I regret not visiting my grandmother while she was in the nursing home a few miles from my house. I am not going to start making excuses for myself, because I do not have any. I wish I could take it back, but I do see the beauty in a goodbye, because I still, and will always have the good and funny memories with my great-grandma.

BSU Class of 2013

13th May 2014

post42

Today is one that I really cannot explain, mainly because I truly just cannot fathom the thought that I am now a college graduate. I have worked so extremely hard these past 5 years to work towards my dream and today was something very special for me. I decided it was only appropriate to feel my absolute best so I chose a dress that I think is so beautiful. It is a Truth brand high-low dress from T.J. Maxx. My jewelry is a necklace in a blue ombre style also from T.J. Maxx and it matched perfectly. I felt so confident in this dress today and it really helped portray the hard work paying off. Even though I still can’t really describe how I feel, I can say that hard work truly pays off. I cannot wait to see what my future holds and that was the look I was going for today!
(Also in this photo with me is my oldest, and one of dearest best friends, Ashley. There really isn’t anything more stylish than a great friend!)

Congratulations, class of 2013!

To the rest of you, I hope your summer is off to a marvelous start!

The LAST day

13th May 2014

post41

Today was my FINAL day of my undergrad at Ball State. I am truly overwhelmed with the thought of entering the next chapter of my life, but I could not be more excited. This year has truly been a life-changer for me. I have learned real life lessons that I will take with me in my career. When I begin to become discouraged with the job search, I think back to everything I have accomplished here.

All that Glitters…

13th May 2014

post40

Tomorrow is the last day of my undergrad adventure. I am so excited and nervous at the same time, all in a good way. I really want to feel great my last days on Ball State’s campus, and to help with this I am choosing to wear some of my favorite pieces. Today I wore my black lace top from T.J. Maxx and I paired it with a pair of my favorite gold glitter jeans from Target. This look is so simple and yet sophisticated which is exactly how I felt today. It is crazy to think I will be done with school and walking across the stage next Saturday, but in honor of all the hard work I have done for the past five years, I am going to dress the part and feel good, even though I am sure to be a ball of emotions these next couple of days.

How are you dressing for finals week??

Here’s to Boston!

The city and people of Boston have truly overcome an unspeakable tragedy. The way the city and people came together is inspiring. I wanted to try my best today to help show some respect for this amazing place filled with astonishing people. I am wearing my Boston Red Sox t-shirt and my navy leggings from PacSun. I finished my look with my brown Blowfish flats. My goal for my look today is for people to think about Boston, not the tragedy, but how this admirable city came together to protect its people.
