Chilling Cut-Outs

Even though today is extremely frigid, I knew our classrooms would be warm, so I decided to wear my Free People cut-out top from the Buckle. (This top can also be seen worn by Selena Gomez in a Wizards of Waverly Place episode, cool right?) Anyways, I also decided to wear my grey jeans from Express and finished my look with a BKE by the Buckle necklace. This look is very simple and the multi-colored top with cut-outs makes it super memorable. This top is also easy to pair different jeans with (dark denim, or even colored). It is nice to have a piece like this in your wardrobe because you can wear it completely different each time and it will give you several looks/outfits! Also, because of the cut-outs at the shoulders, this is perfect for fall/winter paired with a jacket or even in spring with a pair of shorts.

A dash of color blocking

A big fashion trend that I have been noticing for awhile (many in the upcoming 2013 lines) is color blocking. I think this can make quite a statement if the right pieces are worn together. Today, I chose to wear my black Guess jeans, with a tank top from Wet Seal and a jacket from Charlotte Russe. I think this was just enough color from the jacket to pull my look together and really make the color blocking apparent. For a more obvious look, I would pair this outfit with a solid black tanktop to really set off my coral jacket. Outfits like this are very simple to create and really give off a polished complete look. Simplicity, in more cases than none is best.

What do you think about color blocking?

Is that sweater backwards?

This is the outfit I wore on Thursday. My jeans are Joe Jeans (yes, the kind you can spot Jennifer Aniston wearing). They can be found on the website 6pm for wayyy cheaper! My shirt and sweater are from Forever 21 and the neat thing about my sweater is that I am actually wearing it backwards. I was wanting to wear my cross shirt, but because it is so frigid outside, I needed a sweater and I love my grey one so I unbuttoned it and wore it backwards (I received a lot of compliments and no one could even tell!) So awesome. Like I have said before, just go for it when it comes to fashion. To look confident, you have to feel confident.

Go to class, with my go-to piece

Having a “go-to” piece is essential for every person! When I am in a hurry, my piece is always something that I know I can grab and when I pack for the weekend, this always makes it into my bag. Which piece you might ask? My go-to is my jean shirt from PacSun. It was on clearance (if not already, this will be your new favorite word) and I knew right then it was a MUST. It really pulls any look together. Today I paired it with my black Forever 21 jeans and my burnt orange tank top from T.J. Maxx. I love pairing my jean shirt with floral dresses for a more casual every day look also. This shirt fits so many seasons and it can be worn with shorts, skirts, dresses and more. I love it and it will always be an easy add-on for any outfit. I also added a colorful headband to pull the color out my shirt a little more.

“I hope you’re not taking colored photos today…”

Yes, that is exactly what one of my professors said today, and then he noticed my necklace and said the little color was nice. I love how something so small can really big the biggest thing about your outfit, and today, that was definitely my yellow necklace from Etsy. I love how that is the first thing you notice, which was the exact point! Color is so important, and as noticed today, even a little bit goes a LONG way!
