Flower Power

13th May 2014

post18

Hello! Happy Monday! Today was a little frantic but nonetheless, my outfit felt spot-on. Today, I chose to wear an outfit definitely inspired by the sixties and seventies. I wore a long, floral sheer shirt from Maurices and paired that with a knit vest also from Maurices. I wore my blue jeggings from PacSun and finished my look with a pair of dark brown oxfords. My necklace really pulls this look together and it is also my favorite piece about my outfit. My mother actually made my peace sign necklace (awesome right?) I love this necklace and it really fits perfectly for what I wore today. If I could, I would go back to the sixties/seventies for fashion. I absolutely love that style of clothing and I am so happy to see that more brands are taking notice. Vintage will always be a favorite of mine.

Which decade are you the most inspired by?

Be mine?

Today holds a different meaning for everyone. Whether you look forward to being with your significant other, or you do not believe in this “Hallmark holiday” today is still, #ValentinesDay! I for one, enjoy this holiday, not because of the gifts, but I do believe it is important to show the person you care about some recognition. (This really should be done daily, but hey, at least we can make a fun day out of it, right?) When it comes to fashion, this is perfect excuse to wear red lipstick, and who doesn’t love that??

Spring Dreaming

13th May 2014

post16

You remember the popular Field of Dreams quote, “If you build it, they will come,” well this is kind of what I was going for today, but I changed it to, “If I wear it, it will come.” I am hoping spring comes early, so I wore my bright yellow jeans and keeping my fingers crossed! Today I have on my yellow Abercrombie and Fitch jeans, an American Rag halter top from Macy’s and a white Dream Out Loud jacket. This outfit is definitely spring inspired, and I am hoping I am not the only one wishing spring would come a little sooner. In the video I am posting with Kevin Durant, he says something that is extremely true with fashion. He states, “You can tell when someone is comfortable…” This is so true. Do not try to be someone else, be yourself and your confidence will overcome anything. I hope my posts inspire you to step out of your comfort zone some, but if you do not feel comfortable in an outfit, then do not wear it.

You should be you, and you should be comfortable and confident each day!!

A little splash of water color

Considering I had four, yes four, hours of sleep last night, I decided I was going to go for a very bright look today to wake everyone, including myself, up! I wore a pair of my favorite colored/patterned pants from Kohl’s and paired that with a shirt from Forever 21 that almost matches perfectly! Even when the days seem endless, fashion is your opportunity to turn your day around or to even just make you feel better! I think this did the trick for me today because even though this has been a long day, I rocked some printed pants and received some very sweet compliments. Fashion is too fun to stay reserved, don’t you think? Battle the long days and do something for yourself that makes you happy. For me, I always feel better when I am wearing a trendy outfit, and there is no reason, that cannot work for you as well!

Beautiful weather, beautiful pants

Today has been so beautiful that it was impossible not break out my favorite pants. Yes, you have seen these pants before, but today I styled them with a different shirt, so it’s still a completely different outfit. This will make you have so many other options and every outfit will be its own and people will recognize it. I still had compliments on this outfit today even though, I wore these pants with a different top weeks ago.

Just keep calm.

Today was the perfect day to rock my favorite sweater. Similar to the extremely popular quote floating around Pinterest that says “Keep Calm and carry on” my sweater says, “Just keep calm.” I am usually not a huge fan of wearing quotes, but this one is perfect for anyone, especially those in college because there is nothing more true about this statement. This sweater, and my black pants can be found at Forever 21. When it is warmer outside, I also like to wear this sweater with either a black skirt and tights, or even just leggings because it is long enough. I love very versatile pieces and this one is one of my favorites. Once again, this look is super simple and comfortable. If there is anything to enjoy about winter, it might as well be the wonderful winter sweaters!

Going Native

Today it was all about the patterns. I felt like wearing my comfy “navajo inspired” sweater from PacSun. I love this sweater for various reasons. 1. It is super casual and extremely comfortable. 2. As easy as it is to keep it casual, it is also super easy to dress it up! (I love adding red lipstick to make the pattern really pop). Speaking of red lipstick, if you want to find the perfect make-up for your perfect outfit, check out this blog. I paired my sweater with my navy jeggings from PacSun and finished the look with favorite pair of winter boots! This look is so easy to emulate. All you need is a long comfy sweater, a cami or tank-top and jeggings or even just a pair of regular jeans. This is definitely one of my favorite fall/winter looks!

Blending with Winter

Today was by far the coldest day I have experienced! That said, it doesn’t mean I let my style slack! I wore my cream, patterned jeans from American Eagle and cream three-quarter length top with sleeve cut-outs from Forever 21. This is such a simple look to achieve because all that you need is a pattern then a main color to really make the pattern stand out on its own. The cut-out adds the perfect element and design to my outfit. I felt like the cut-outs were enough for the shirt that the outfit did not need any accessories, but had I chose some, I would have chose gold. My shirt is also really loose fitting so this outfit is not only super trendy, but also super comfortable. The colors in my pants also blend together very well and the colors are very fitting for the season.

Floral Takeover

Today I decided to wear my grey sweater the RIGHT way! A sweater was necessary because it was, unfortunately, snowing. (I love snow, but I am so ready for warm days and sunshine.) I wore my grey sweater that buttons down the back from Forever 21. Because my sweater is a solid color with very subtle detail around the neck, I chose to pair it with my floral pants from Target (such a great place to find awesome deals, especially on pants!) I decided to wear my FAV headband from Charlotte Russe and brown boots to finish my look. Playing with prints and patterns is so much fun, but you need to be careful of a pattern overload! A subtle color piece really makes the pattern pop more!

Subtle Gold

Today could be one of the last warm days of winter we have, and there’s no better way to express that than through a little subtle gold! My pants are from Target (the day I purchased them, they were $7!). They are gold but not extremely flashy. This is why I chose to wear my black Jennifer Lopez shirt with the subtle embellishments. When the light hits both pieces, it makes the embellishments on my shirt appear and my pants sparkle just enough. My combat boots completed my look to keep it casual. Even though it is still gloomy and winter, there is no reason not to add a little sparkle!
