Breaking the Rules

13th May 2014

post38

Today was a day to break the rules. And by that, I mean of course wearing white AFTER Labor day. I will wear white all year long. I mainly avoid it in the winter for obvious reason (who really wants to camouflage with the snow?) But anyways, I really don’t think this “rule” is crucial. I paired my white Bullhead jeans from PacSun, with a blue chevron tank top from Carson’s. I added my yellow necklace from Etsy because I feel it really helps to set off the pattern of the chevron in my top. I wore my brown Bullhead flats to complete my outfit today. This is a great spring look and like most, you can change this up a bit to wear it for a night out! I am so excited to continue wearing my white jeans all year because they really make a simple pattern pop. Break some fashion rules this weekend. Seriously, weren’t rules made to be broken?

Humid days, tropical prints

13th May 2014

post37

Today was another spring day in Muncie! Despite the humidity (and all the wonderful things it does NOT do for my hair), it was amazing! I am so excited to be breaking out some more pieces from my closet. Today I chose a dress from the boutique Francesca’s. The colors are so bright and fun that it is perfect for a day like today, even with the humidity. It is a super loose, flowy feel to it. I also wore a pair of brown Blowfish flats to complete my look. This is so simple and a perfect casual look for school, and then also for work. With the bold print, I opted for minimal accessories (aqua bracelet from Urban Outfitters and my gold Michael Kors watch). The print is enough for the dress to stand alone. Spring, I think, is the time to really show your girly side and really play with prints and patterns. Have fun with it, because the only thing better than a beautiful 80 degree day, is an outfit to go with it!

How did you handle the humidity today?

Spring into Shorts

13th May 2014

post36

I feel like I can finally say, spring has officially sprung! It’s a beautiful, sunny day today in Muncie and I could not be more excited! I knew that I wanted to wear shorts today, I then I remembered I have the perfect pair to start off the spring season. I am wearing my black cross shirt from TJ Maxx, and with that, I have my black American Eagle sheer, high waisted shorts on. I think this is a great look because the shorts are loose fitting and really complement my black tank top, which is longer in the back. I am also FINALLY wearing my blush, Madden Girl oxfords, which I have been waiting MONTHS for.

DELETE Digital Drama

13th May 2014

post35

Today I am wearing my “Delete” t-shirt to help raise awareness for digital bullying and drama. This shirt is sold at JCPenney. Seventeen magazine teamed up with L’Amour Nanette Lepore to create this t-shirt for this awesome cause. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to STOMP out bullying. This is one way fashion is used in an extremely positive way. Using fashion to raise awareness and expressing yourself is the main purpose, I believe, for fashion.

A piece through the ages

I love most flannel shirts, and have since I was a little girl and saw my pappy and dad wear them when they would work in the garage. Back then, I was most definitely a tom-boy. Today, my style has evolved and I am way more girly than I was when I was younger. I love how flannel came back, and I can still wear it with fond memories of growing up.

My shirt is from PacSun and so are my navy jeggings! I love this top to wear over other shirts, or also by itself. I also like it buttoned all the way up to give it a little more of a different style. Fashion trends always come back. My nana constantly tells me that any piece I buy that is 70’s inspired (my favorite decade for clothing) she used to have in her closet. I love that fashion is constantly evolving, but it is nice when trends appear again.

What has been your favorite trend?

Sheer Floral

Today has been interesting, to say the least. My week is half over, and Thursday I will be telling my class what I want to make of myself when I leave Ball State (which I believe the countdown is now 39 days!) This is a really big question, and something I will be thinking about for the next couple of days. One thing I do know, is that in case I was chosen to speak today, I had an outfit on that made me feel confident.

Spring day, winter style

13th May 2014

post32

Here is to hoping this will be one of the final winter posts I will need to make! I love snow for Christmas, and for a few days in winter, but now that it is technically spring, all I want is some sun! On a positive note, this weather has given us a few more chances to wear our favorite winter pieces.

Beautiful Bows

13th May 2014

post31

Today in class, a friend told me I looked different, but a good different, and he promised this was a compliment. The only thing I could think that was any different is that my hair is usually all down, and not pulled back. Needless to say, the littlest things do go noticed! Also, a little change is good for everyone! Do not be afraid to try something new, whether that be with accessories, or your style completely!

Cold day, bold color

13th May 2014

Post30

Today was a fun mix of class and fashion photo shoots! For a magazine my class is working on, I had to photograph some street style, more specifically, accessories. One trend I noticed was bold framed sunglasses. I felt like I followed this trend with my bold color choice with my clothing today. I chose to wear a navy sheer top from Forever 21 and my gold jeans from Target. In the sun, my pants were pure sparkle. They are so fun for a sunny day and really add to a look, and even make a dark color, like navy, really pop! I love incorporating bold color into my style, whether that be through sunglasses, or even a pair of my favorite jeans.

Did you wear any bold color today?

Sweet Simplicity

13th May 2014

Today was just one of those days. I drove back to Ball State University battling with the slush on the roads, but all is well in the fashion world! Being the optimistic person I am, I was determined to make my Monday wonderful, and what better way than to wear a simple, yet chic outfit.
