I Got It From My Mama

Today has been solely dedicated to the most important person in my life. I consider myself lucky that I am able to call my role model and best friend my mother. There has never been a time that I have needed her and she didn’t drop everything to help me. She is everything I hope to be and she truly deserves more than a day to be thanked and celebrated.

One of my most treasured memories with my mother is when I was starting first grade. She told me that I was not better than anyone else in my class and none of them were better than me either. She also told me that if she ever heard I was bullying someone because of their clothing she would make me wear mismatched outfits to school for the next two weeks. I don’t think she was ever truly worried of me being mean, but this definitely worked and she just wanted me to be kind to everyone.
I will always remember how she told me that people won’t remember exactly what you said or did, but they will always remember how you made them feel. I constantly remind myself of this and thanks to her, she has helped to keep I optimistic in every situation and spread kindness.

I also have my mother to thank for starting this blog in the first place. We both share the love of fashion, so for every holiday, though it was never a surprise, I always was gifted with clothes. After Christmas break a few years ago in school, I would call my mom when I was walking from class to class. She would always ask what I wearing to see if it was an outfit she picked out for me. To make things simpler, I started this blog so she could go online every day and see what the outfit looked like. Hundreds of posts later, I am so happy that blogging is still something love and this site is something I am going to continue to build.

Of course, we don’t agree on everything and we still bicker over trivial things, but at the end of the day, she is always on my side. I will never be able to thank her for supporting every idea, no matter how irrational it is and she pushes me to achieve my goals. She is my biggest supporter and the true example of strength and independence.
I am so fortunate that not only can I share everything with her, but she has shared her kind heart and shaped me into the woman I am today. It’s also an added bonus that she has killer style and we can share our closets. I know I don’t deserve her, but I cannot imagine being anywhere without her and her guidance.
