Thanks for the memories

This has been one interesting week to say the least, and when I say interesting, I mean that in the best way possible. I have let a few people go in my life over the past couple of months. Some were necessary, some were not, but regardless, none of it was simple. The whole time I have been wondering if any of this was a mistake, but I try to live my life without regrets. Of course, I wish in all cases, things were said differently, but at the end of the day, I have come to realize it happened. It was. It’s time to move on, but if there was one final thing I could say to the few that aren’t a part of my life anymore, it would simply be: Thanks for the memories. Good/bad/funny/awful/heartbreaking/loving, we did share something.

Life is a really funny thing sometimes. So far, I can say nothing has really gone as I had always planned. My goals haven’t changed, which I think is the main factor (and I’m not giving that up for anyone) so when I think of losing people from my life, I always re-evaluate what I truly want, and then it starts to make sense why some people are not a part of my plan anymore.

My style of the day usually reflects my attitude towards the day, even when I am not planning it. I have been thinking about all the memories from the past couple of months, but before I went for a run tonight, I was talking to my mom before I went to change into my running clothes. I happened to set my phone on my fireplace and the minute I went to grab it, I noticed a picture of my great-grandpa. I have always known that photo is placed on the fireplace, but I haven’t truly looked at it for a long time. In the photo my great-grandpa is wearing a flannel almost identical to the one I wore today. Immediately, my favorite memory of my great-grandpa sitting in my front yard on my 12th birthday popped into my head and all I could do was smile. Life is a funny thing, and even a piece of clothing can give you treasured memory without even planning on it.
