For my fashion icon

Today was an incredibly special to me. Not only because today was Friday, but today just happened to be my nana’s birthday. Anyone that knows me, knows how special my nana is to me. Her and I have a rare relationship that I would not trade for the world. She is one of favorite people in my life, and today, this post is dedicated to her.

She is my fashion icon because even today she has the best style. I love when we are able to go to Kohls and do our annual seasonal wardrobe shopping. I am her personal stylist and we have so much fun picking out clothes for her and then having her try them on. Today I am wearing one of her favorite sweaters from the 70s and I am obsessed with it. The puffy sleeves I truly think are going to make a comeback. When I was visiting home, nana pulled out five pieces from her trunk and gave them to me. They were all her favorite pieces she kept from the 60s and 70s and she knew I would love them so she gave me all of them.

These five pieces are now my most favorite in my entire wardrobe (which believe me, is huge.) So go ask the important women (or men) in your life and see if they have kept anything from past decades and give it a try, or go thrift shopping, which is also so fun. Seriously you wouldn’t believe the amount of compliments you receive, and it is so fun to say “thanks, it’s my nanas!” I love her and I love that of all the many things we share, our love for fashion is one of them.

Happy Birthday, nana! I love you!
