I Got a Secret…

Tonight was the 100th episode of “Pretty Little Liars.” How they have managed to keep a storyline going this long is truly awesome. Honestly, who doesn’t enjoy some major girl drama, when it’s not your own? To honor tonight’s episode, it was only appropriate to wear the shirts that Presley bought for her and I while she was on her vacation. This is one (of the million reasons) I love this girl so much, she is so selfless.

Another reason I love her so much, is that she is a constant reminder for me to keep going and staying positive. One of the most important things to me, is continuing to be a positive role model for her, because I know she looks up to me. I will also admit, the day she realizes that she is way cooler than me, will be incredibly depressing. When I am having an off day, or a horrendous week (like this one) I just look at her, and know that I have to show her how to stay strong and know everything will be fine.

I love that she has always comes to me for advice, and now that she is getting older, she is asking more serious questions. Of course, I try to tell her she doesn’t need a boyfriend, because honestly, who does? She asks me for style advice and which classes to take in middle school.

Recently, I have felt pretty down about some situations in my life. Searching for the “dream job” is a job in itself and I have found the whole experience completely humbling. This is just the beginning of the ripple effect because if it’s not a job situation, it’s something else, boy drama, girl drama, you name it, we’ve all experienced it. Presley is now on summer vacation and she basically lives with me when she doesn’t have school. I know she sees when I am frustrated and starting to get a little negative, so when I think of her watching me, that’s when I know it’s time to change the outlook of the situation and revert back to being positive, so she sees that, and not defeat.

Just when I started to feel I was on the brink of defeat, she told me that she wants to work at Vogue magazine. She has seen the reality of what I am going through, but she still wants to try to be like me. She has no idea, but that completely changed the outlook I have now. I want to give her someone to continue looking up to and setting the example for her. She knows she is my favorite person, and it is so rewarding knowing I am one of hers. So when you start to feel low, just keep in mind someone could be looking up to you.
