This has been one busy wedding season. From standing with one of my oldest and dearest friends on her special day, to attending ceremonies for friends from college, weddings are such a special event, that requires special attire, of course. Dressing for a wedding and for a special occasion in general can be pretty tricky, but here are a few of favorite trends and some hints for future occasions!
1. For a spring/summer wedding, I love rocking a spring dress usually in a pastel shade. Pastels make an outfit look very romantic because the colors are so soft and delicate. Plus, I love wearing light pink on a wedding day, I think the color pink really symbolizes love, and this is one color I do not have enough of. Pairing pastels with a nude heel or wedge also pulls an entire look together and makes it very chic. For fall/winter, I prefer darker shades, but pastels always work for any season.
2. Short and simple always works. For my look I kept it very simple and chose my strapless pastel pink dress. The more simple the dress/look, the more you can dress it up with a fun shoe. I wore my Jennifer Lopez nude wedges because this color looks awesome with just about anything, but it really made my dress pop.
3. Avoid white. I know we always hear to “never wear white to a wedding” to avoid “upstaging the bride” but honestly, you aren’t going to upstage the bride. She will be the happiest, and most stunning woman in the room. But more often than not, she will wear white, so why do that to yourself? She will already be the most noticeable, but just give her the whole day and satisfaction of rocking white on her own.
Dressing for an event that is going to be one giant party, celebrating someone you care about, should not make you stress over the perfect outfit. Pick something that you are comfortable and can move in. Dresses are usually a safe bet, and finding the perfect romantic pastel will really make for an evening to remember.
