Today we celebrated Natalie’s 21st birthday (love you girl!) and we planned to go out immediately after dinner with everyone. This gave me one option for what I was going to wear today. I had to choose something that would quickly evolve into an evening outfit.
Earlier today, I wore this complete outfit, minus my checkered jacket. Instead, I wore a sheer purple top over everything. All I had to do to make this a “going out” look was to switch my over shirts. I chose this checkered jacket because when I go out, I tend to gravitate toward an edgier look versus anything else, because it’s just my personal favorite, and as seen from previous posts, I have a lot more of these options.
A day to night look is really simple and obvious because all it takes is one piece to make a difference. Today, I chose to make that my over shirt, but it could be even easier and just switching shoes (or adding an awesome statement necklace like this mine.) A fun note about this necklace, I actually used to never tell anyone where it was from because I wanted to be the only who had it! I’m way nicer now 🙂
And remember, just because you buy a piece for a night out, does not mean you cannot make it work during the day. Dressing up and dressing down pieces is a fun way to really expand your closet and really experiment with different styles. Give your night looks a day out on the town, it can work!
