Today after I got dressed, I realized that I remembered the exact day I purchased these pants. I remember being so happy to find them because I had never seen anything like them before. I was shopping with one of my best friends (love you Jyss!) and we decided we were going to treat ourselves. I had received one of my first paychecks from my first “Big Girl Job” and sometimes you do deserve to just splurge on yourself a little. After I tried these on, we both agreed that I needed them. After I bought them, I planned when I was going to wear them, it would be for a “date night.” When that night finally happened, I was told these pants were “interesting” and after being so excited for an outfit, I did something I will never do again. I changed.
When going shopping, I hope you buy pieces that express you. Do not buy something that you are going to wear to please others. It did hurt my feelings when I was told these pants weren’t awesome (even though they totally rock) but I got past it and decided I wasn’t going to have anyone delegate my style but me. Today was the first time I have worn them since that incident and I received so many compliments on them. It is really nice to hear when other people have the same opinion and share the same sense of style with you, or even just want to ask where your clothes come from.
Always wear your clothes with confidence and never let someone make you feel like you need to change. Each time I wear these pants, instead of thinking back to the “interesting” comment, I am going to remember buying them with my best friend because it was love at first sight when I tried them on, and I feel a rush when I wear them. This is what fashion is about. It is all about YOU.
